Hiram's Roadstand: Reviews & Ratings
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you’re anywhere near Hiram’s Roadstand, do yourself a favor and stop in. This legendary roadside spot has been serving some of the best hot dogs in New Jersey for decades, and one bite explains why it has such a loyal following. The deep-fried hot dogs come out perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside, tucked into a soft bun and topped exactly how you like it. Pair it with their crispy fries and you’ve got a simple meal that absolutely hits the spot every time. The place has that classic, no-frills roadside charm that makes it feel like a true Jersey institution. You can feel the history the moment you walk up to the counter. It’s the kind of spot that reminds you that sometimes the simplest food is the best food. You can also see why food legends like Anthony Bourdain celebrated places like this. Hiram’s represents exactly what he loved about food culture — authentic, unpretentious, and rooted in local tradition. No gimmicks, just incredible hot dogs done right. If you love classic New Jersey eats, Hiram’s is an absolute must-visit.
A Jersey Classic for all the hot dog enthusiasts out there. They have been around since 1932 and they are definitely a hit spot. Stopped in 2:45 on a Saturday afternoon and people were still coming through the doors. Definitely a go to place if your looking for a deep fried dog. Unlike most of the more popular spots, you can grab a cold beer to wash down the dog. Place is a cash only business so plan accordingly. Had a chilli dog which was tasty. Definitely one of the more popular spots for a good reason.
So good! The bread was super soft and moist, and the sausage was big and really satisfying. Definitely worth trying Personally, the cheese hotdog was my favorite!
Finally got to visit one of the destination hot dog joints! Very good fried hot dogs! I had the chili cheese dogs... Chili was fine nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad. I like the slice of cheese they put on the bun. Also had fries which were typical fast food fries. Good. The onion rings were pretty good as well. Also had a bite of cheeseburger, typical cheeseburger and nothing outrageous. They have tables inside, areas to sit outside for nice days. They sell beer! Small parking lot is available but it gets crowded during meal times. Service was good, friendly. Definitely glad I came and if I'm in the area and have a hankering for a hot dog I would go again.
Great prices and easily some of the best hot dogs and burgers I have ever had. I tried the chili cheese hot dog, chili cheese burger, and fries, and everything was delicious. The chili sauce itself was so good and really made the meal. Simple, satisfying, and definitely worth coming back for.
Amazing hot dog. The owners are proud of America. They support the NY Rangers big time. Burgers and onion rings are top notch too. I live an hour away but come here once or twice a year. Counter servers are amazingly friendly. Only thing is CASH ONLY. NO CREDIT CARDS.
TLDR: Famous quick stop in the Fort Lee area. Chili cheese dog. Cash only. Tasty. I've driven by Hiram's countless times but only tried it the other day. It gives me a very similar vibe to New Park Pizza in Howard Beach, the hot dog and burger version. IYKYK. It's cash only, you can order at the counter and there's some seats both inside and some benches in the parking lot. The chili cheese dog was very tasty. Standard bun but the frankfurter itself had a very snappy casing. Well-cooked and served HOT. The chili was also hot and there's a slice of American underneath. It melts together in a much better way than the standard nacho cheese like sauce I'm accustomed to. So nice, we had it twice. I try not to eat too many hot dogs but if you're craving it - do it right. I'd definitely come back to try some other things, maybe not after I just ate dinner but it was still a good idea.
We tried cheese and chili hotdogs with onion rings. Cheese hotdog - great sausage, texture, taste and all was really nice. Chili hotdogs- very tasty, I’m not the one go for chili but really enjoyed it. Onion rings - amazing crunch and texture but lack flavor. Overall good. Is it great? No, not for me. Will I be back? Not sure. But I enjoyed and appreciate the delicious food
